Here's another great tip from my friend in Utah with 7 kids. Instead of buying books (even used books), her family has taken advantage of their local library district's online service. They browse through the virtual card catalog, request the books they want to check out, and next time they are near the library, they swing by, and she sends in one of her older children with her library card to pick up the books.
She says: "can you imagine me going in to find books for all 7 of my kids?...I don't even want to think about it!" The online checkout service has saved her untold hours and made checking out books from the library even that much more convenient!
